Best result 2016
Wannes is a Belgian professional ‘Laser Standard’ Olympic Sailor. With both his father and grandfather being experienced racers, it did not come as a surprise that Wannes was inspired to sail from the early age of 6, winning his first junior world title in the Optimist class at the age of 11 and being honoured as the first 16y old sailor ever to reach the ‘Gold Fleet’ at the elite European Championship in Poland in 2001.
Since his first qualification for the London Olympic games in 2012 and his 17th place at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic games in 2016, the 7-times Belgian Champion is ambitious to make it to the next Olympic games in Tokyo 2020!
